A Stunning Location Requires A Stunning Pool Design (Residential)

How do you create the illusion of a never-ending view? An infinity pool, of course.

Many properties dotted throughout Palm Beach, Whale Beach and the Pittwater area are built on the steep escarpments and clifftops overlooking the ocean.

Houses are architecturally designed to take advantage of the stunning ocean and coastal views. The leftover land is often steep, inaccessible and can provide difficult to integrate a new pool build.

This home at Palm Beach, overlooking the ocean and Barrenjoey Headland, was one such property. The large home was positioned on a north-facing, steep block that sloped down to a cliff drop off and the ocean below.

While homes such as this can create access challenges, our team have worked on the Northern Beaches for some 50+ years. It’s this experience and longevity that means there is practically nothing our team of pool builders can’t handle.

The pool sits within the sloping block.

For obvious reasons, it was paramount the pool on this project took full advantage of the stunning outlook. We were limited however by the small amount of available land and steepness of the sloping block. The solution? Build a smaller (5 metre), infinity-edge pool with clever use of timber decking to seamlessly integrate it into the landscape.

We also moved the pool further back so it ran adjacent to the downstair entertaining area.  This provided a seamless flow between the pool and the home.

Dark blue mosaic tiles were used in the swimming pool to create a sense of continuity with the view. This was complemented by a softer, natural timber surround.

The result was a functional pool that didn’t compete with, but complimented the view, nor looked out of place in the natural landscape.
