By appearances, you’d be forgiven to think this pool installation at Mona Vale on Sydney’s Northern Beaches was a classic rectangular inground pool. You’re wrong! Beautiful landscaping, clever tiling and state-of-the-art lighting transformed what could otherwise have been “ordinary” into the “extraordinary”.
Classic in its design, this large rectangular backyard pool with spa, is a very popular design. It works very well in most backyards and is a cost-effective option for many Sydney home owners. So how do you turn classic into contemporary? It’s all in the detail!
This was a large pool (9 meters) and space wasn’t an issue. The owners didn’t, however, want the pool to dominate the backyard. The solution was to tuck it away in an under-utlilised part of the property. Visible from the upper levels of the property, it was important the pool didn’t look like an afterthought but was an interesting addition to the home.
By night the pool comes alive with clever yet subtle lighting. A stunning consideration transforming it into a real showpiece, particularly when viewed from inside the home.
